Butler’s Gartersnake Surveys
WDNR

In 2005, surveys were conducted for two snake species, the Butler’s gartersnake and the plains gartersnake to obtain DNA samples to complete a genetics study.  The purpose of the study is to help refine the true range of the Butler’s gartersnake by determining the range where hybrid influence between these two species occurs.  A total of 16 Butler’s sites and 24 plains and hybrid sites were surveyed in 2005.
