Getting Started: Activating a Teaming with Wildlife Coalition in Your State
USFWS

Get your coalition off the ground by first organizing your leading partners into a core group or leadership team.

Start a Teaming with Wildlife Coalition in your state with three primary steps:
1. Establish a core group
2. Expand the coalition
3. Keep the coalition engaged

Begin by creating your core leadership group which should consist of a few organizations or individuals chosen to give your coalition a sound tactical and strategic foundation.  Next, expand your coalition to a larger group of organizations that can respond to your requests and aid your efforts to support the Wildlife Action Plans.  You can do this by having each of the members of your leadership group invite organizations with whom they are most closely aligned to join the coalition.  This will also help you in the second phase of coalition expansion:  developing your “letterhead” members who will endorse the Teaming with Wildlife Coalition which works to “prevent wildlife from becoming endangered by supporting increased state and federal funding for wildlifeconservation.”  Finally, you’ll want to build a communication system for keeping the coalition members engaged and connected, such as an email list that the group can use.
