The Great Wisconsin Birding and Nature Trail is approaching completion thanks to the hard work of Susan Foote-Martin, who works part-time for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and spends the other half of her time coordinating Wisconsin's TWW Coalition for the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation. The Birding and Nature Trail is funded in part with monies from the State Wildlife Grants Program. It is a mapped system of 5 trails (3 of which are complete) that lead the nature traveler through State Natural Areas, county, city and State Parks, National Forest sites, private nature centers and National Wildlife Refuges to showcase Wisconsin’s best birding areas. When not working on Teaming With Wildlife issues, Ms. Foote-Martin oversees the development of these trails.
