The River Bends Conservation Opportunity Area Team recently received $146,000 from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation in a joint project with Tennessee. These funds will be used to restore 2,340 acres of bottomland forest and canebrake habitats in Tennessee and Missouri and will benefit over 65 species, including Cerulean Warbler and Swainson’s Warbler. These actions are listed as priorities in both the Missouri and Tennessee Wildlife Action Plans.
Partners in this project include the Lower Mississippi Valley Joint Venture, Ducks Unlimited, Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
