A new book underscoring current, pressing environmental issues in Massachusetts for members of the public, legislators, state officals and media is now available. The Environmental Briefing Book 2007 was produced by the Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters (MLEV) through their Voter Education Fund by 39 individuals from 26 separate organizations including the Environmental League of Massachusetts. Properly maintaining our environmental resources and protecting the public's health are the central themes presented throughout the publication.
The book highlights fourteen issues that are divided into separte sections such as "Global Warming & Energy," "Water Resources," and "Recycling and Waste Management." In addition to providing background and descriptions of the specific issues, the book defines the issues' accompanying challenges and opportunities while also highlighting success stories and making budgetary and policy reccommendations. There are also "Facts" and "Economics" sidebars that present statistics and bulleted information for quick reference points, and a list of contacts appears at the end of each section.
The booklet is intended to assist our leaders and citizens in understanding the environmental challenges and opportunities that Massachusetts faces so that we can manage and protect our enviornment for future generations.
MLEV is a statewide, non-partisan political environmental organization dedicated to making environmental protection a top priority for Massachusetts elected officials.
