The Georgia Wildlife Action Plan identifies the most important places in Georgia to be conserved and what actions are needed to protect wildlife. Please join the Teaming with Wildlife Coalition (TWW) in an effort to support and secure increased state and federal funding for wildlife conservation through the Georgia Wildlife Action Plan.  The TWW Coalition is a diverse group of conservation organizations, outdoor groups, hunting and fishing groups, individuals, businesses, local, state and federal government officials and others, committed to action and voicing their support of this proactive, long-term plan to help conserve wildlife and natural areas before they become too costly to protect.

At the initial organizational meeting, more than 100 groups joined the TWW Coalition.  We need hundreds more to support this grass roots endeavor.  Your support will show Congress and federal government agencies that Georgia is committed to implementing its wildlife strategies outlined and directed by the wildlife action plan.  As Georgia has created one of the top plans drafted from each of the 50 states, it deserves the highest consideration and priority for increased funding.

The Georgia Wildlife Action Plan (also known as the Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy) is an important new tool that can accelerate and streamline the protection of critical and essential wildlife habitat across all of Georgia.  Conservation actions identified as high priority objectives for the TWW Coalition in supporting the implementation of the Georgia Wildlife Action Plan include:

  • Expanding technical and financial assistance programs to improve wildlife habitat management on private lands.
  • Implementing prescribed fire programs to restore and maintain fire-adapted communities.
  • Developing a statewide strategy for assessment and control of invasive exotic species.
  • Establishing partnerships to conserve high priority aquatic and wetland habitats.
  • Implementing statewide programs for permanent land protection.

We can succeed in implementing this plan by working together as a coalition while cooperating with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources in identifying opportunities for us all to have a positive impact on the conservation of Georgia’s natural resource heritage.   You may choose your level of participation and identify specific items of interest as the elements of our work plan are identified.  And, there is no financial obligation on your part. We are only asking for the privilege to list your organization in support of this vital conservation effort
