1000 Friends of Florida, with help from the Florida Wildlife Federation and the FWC, have produced a Florida–based wildlife habitats conservation manual this geared towards community planners, landscape architects, private landowners and developers.

Safe Harbor for Listed Species

The safe harbor program protects state-listed species such as the red-cockaded woodpecker on private lands; this program encourages this voluntary, incentive-based effort in order to stem the need for the adding species to state and federal endangered lists. Voluntary, private conservation efforts also saves money that the state can use on other conservation programs.
